ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the clinicopathologic features and pathologic diagnosis and differential diagnosis of angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma with HRS-like cells.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Six cases of angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma with HRS-like cells were examined histologically and immunohistochemically (EliVision method) and in-situ hybridization for Epstein-Barr virus-encoded RNA (EBER), and the literature was reviewed.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The cytologic and microscopic features of these imprints and lymph node samples showed a heterogeneous population of hematolymphoid cells, including small to intermediate lymphoid cells, immunoblasts, plasma cells, dendritic cells, and eosinophils, as well as small vessels that were surrounded by some of the abnormal cells. The neoplastic T-cells expressed CD3 and CD5 and partly positive for CD10 and bcl-6, CD21 showed expanded and irregular follicular dendritic cell (FDC) meshworks that surrounding the high HEV. The HRS-like cells were positive for MUM-1 and Ki-67, variable intensity positive for CD30, CD20, and PAX-5, but negative for CD15. EBV-positive cells included HRS-like cells and small to large-sized neoplastic T-cells, which formed small clusters or scattering in the background of the disease.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>The clinical course of angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma with HRS-like cells is aggressive. Which present with histomorphology overlap with classical Hodgkin lymphoma (CHL), similar to CHL in EBER and immunophenotype, however, it is easy to misdiagnosis as HL. Thus, angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma pathology diagnosis should comprehensive analysis of different kinds of materials, including clinical features, and histological structure, and EBER, and immunophenotype, and gene rearrangement.</p>

ABSTRACT

Purpose To explore the clinicopathologic characteristics, pathologic diagnosis and differential diagnosis of extraskeletal myxiod chondrosarcoma. Methods The clinical and pathological features were studied with HE and immunohistochemical staining in 5 cases of extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma, and the related literatures were also reviewed. Results Extraskeletal myxoid chondro-sarcoma was male predominance (4 males: 1 female), and the age ranged from 32 to 62 years with an average of 52 years. Four tumors occurred in thigh and another in chest. Histologically, the neophlasm were composed of round and oval cells. Immunohisto-chemically, the tumor cells were positive for vimentin in five cases, synaptophysin expressed in one case, S-100 showed focal positivity in two cases, but negative for CK, p63, EMA, CD34, SMA in all cases. Molecular genetics detection shows chromosome exchange be-tween number 9 and 22. Conclusion Extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma is a rare tumor which has no special characteristics in clinical and iconography, and its diagnosis mainly depends on the histopathologic features, immunohistochemistry and molecular genet-ics. Extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma grows slowly, but have a high tendency for local recurrence and metastases.

ABSTRACT

Mild cognitive impairment(MCI) is a transition phase between the process of normal aging and the mild dementia.Previous studies have confirmed that besides progress to dementia or death,MCI can also keep stable or convert to normal, and the outcome is different after dividing it into subtypes. This paper mainly discusses the criteria of MCI subtypes, outcome and its possible influential factors.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the relationship between hypertension and cognitive function in community-based elderly people aged 60 and over in Guiyang city. Methods By using multistage sampling technique, general conditions and healthy status were surveyed in 3229 old individuals aged ≥60 years.Blood pressure and the mini-mental state examination(MMSE)were measured. Results Hypertensive subjects had MMSE score 25.7?4.2 lower than that 26.3?3.6 in normotensive subjects(t=3.92,P

ABSTRACT

AIM: To explore the role of PI3K /PKB pathway in the growth inhibition effect of rabbit lens epithelial cells (LECs) induced by (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). METHODS: Rabbit LECs were obtained by tissue culture; MTT colormetric assay was used to study growth of LECs; Western blotting was used to study the kinsae phosphorylation- and nonphosphorylation- level of PKB. RESULTS: (1) When LECs were preincubated with 25, 50 ?mol/L LY294002 for 1 h, 50 ?mol/L EGCG had little influence on the proliferation of LECs. It showed significant inhibition when EGCG increased to 100, 200 ?mol/L ( P

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the prevalence of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) among elderly people aged 60 and over in urban and rural areas of Guizhou Province. Methods:A total of 4535 residents aged 60 and over was selected by random cluster sampling in Giuyang City and Zheng'an County. All participants were interviewed with questionnaires, they also received physical examination for related information, and their cognitive function was assessed by the mini-mental state examination (MMSE). Frisoni's criteria for MCI, the score of MMSE below one standard deviation matching age and education was used to this investigation. Chi-square test and u test were used in data analysis. Results: The total prevalence of MCI among all elderly people aged 60 years and over was 15.4%. Prevalence for urban community was higher than that of rural area (16.3% vs. 13.2%,?2=6.71, P=0.01). Prevalence in female (17.0%) was higher than in male (13.1%)(?2=12.88, P
